The Devil Wears Prada,a 2006 release by the 2oth Century Fox distribution,is one film that makes one take a second look in the mirror.A movie adapted by the book by the same name,runs on the lives of two very different women tied only together by the big fashion world.Miranda Priestly(Meryl Streep) is the editor-in-chief of Runway,the most successful fashion magazine;and her very new second assistant is Andrea Sachs(Anne Hathaway) who is a journalist but takes up that job to build a very fine resume that could bring her success as a professional media person.What happens next is a series of exhaustive events that teach Andrea why exactly Miranda is the unappraochable.She, with a twitch of her mouth can make one change his/her entire clothing line,in short Miranda means power.Andrea steps in as the perfect assistant to her with some initial hassles, but later realises that she has started losing out on her real happiness & joys in life.The high-end fashion appeals to you in the start,but the race to that gloss leads to nowhere unless you keep your heart in the right place.

Excellently performed by one of the finest actresses of this century,Meryl Streep portrays her character with that conviction that you hate and love her in every scene that she demands.The stupendous amount of money put into bringing out the best wardrobes is evident in every character.Anne Hathaway delights you with her utter self confidence.The Devil Wears Prada is that film that leaves one with a finer taste for fashion and a sheer desire of a wardrobe!A drama with romance and some really good humour,example the part where Andrea asks on the phone the spelling of Gabbana while taking down a note from that respective fashion house only, puts you in peels.A driving movie,this one is a must watch for all fashionistas out there!

Revolutionary Road(2008)

Every person struggles with obstacles no matter how pleasant his/her life might seem to be;that's the underlying theme of Revolutionary Road,a Sam Mendes directed movie that revolves around an American couple and the tribulations of their married life.

Set against the American backdrop of 1955,Revolutionary Road showcases the dull life & the endless attempts to revive it, of the couple Frank Wheeler(Leonardo di Caprio) and April Wheeler(Kate Winslet).Their life is monotonous and they want to give their future another chance at bringing it back to excitement.So, April decides to shift their family base to Paris and work while she can give her husband Frank a chance to start his life afresh and give him the freedom to choose his career the way he would want it to be.Though hasty,but Frank agrees to it.Everything seems to be working out fine when an unplanned pregnancy and an unexpected job promotion shakes their entire plans.The idea of restoring happiness in life takes two different angles altogether for the couple.While Frank wants to stay and work,April is adamant to get a new life in Paris anyhow.The idea of fulfillment in life creates a rift in the couple's marriage.What follows is an event that turns their lives in an unimaginable scenario forever.

Brilliant performances by the 'Titanic' pair,Leonardo and Kate outdo themselves in this movie that portrays the tribulations of a seemingly happy married couple.It's a delight to see them back together onscreen after a gap of 11 years.Also with some excellent performances by Kathy Bates and Michael Shannon,Revolutionary Road grips you from the start to the end with its convincing actors,beautiful direction and music that trails you down to the mid-50's period.A must watch because of its sheer depiction of reality and a chance to see Leonardo-Kate together,this movie rightfully won the four Golden Globe nominations that year.
